The natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
1 Cor 2:14
Two men looking at the Lord Jesus, one see a carpenter, the other sees the Lord of glory. Even when God gives the revelation of His wisdom, in a tangible form, the world doesn’t see it. It doesn’t recognize it. The world cannot understand it and it cannot receive it, because it is a mystery. It is hid from their eyes and they are blind to these things. It seems folly to them, because it’s different from what they’re accustomed to. That’s the tragedy of man in sin: that God’s wisdom is folly to man. So that in the final analysis, the work of the Holy Spirit in us is absolutely essential before we can receive this gospel.
