When God planted eternal life within us, it was nothing less than the life of eternity that is to be lived in time, and we groan while waiting for its fulfillment.
We are not here to play, to dream, to drift. We have hard work to do and loads to lift. Shun not the struggle — face it!
The christian life is the life of the frontier. There were not many pauses from hard work. Many a woman among the early settlers took her baby and a hoe and sometimes a gun, and went into the cornfields to work. The glance went to the neighboring trees that might harbor an enemy. The glance dropped for a moment upon the sleeping child. But the main glance was on the corn hill that needed to be weeded.
